
What is Territorial Army ?
The Indian Territorial Army (TA) is a second line of defence after the Regular Indian Army. The present role of the Territorial Army is to relieve the regular army from static duties and assist civil administration in dealing with natural calamities and maintenance of essential. Presently, the Territorial Army has an approximately 40, 000 persons. Candidates can join the Territorial Army as Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO). The Territorial Army Officers (Non-Departmental) is done for Ex-Servicemen and Civilians. For Civilians, the recruitment is done for Territorial Army Officers (Non-Departmental).
Territorial Army Eligibility Criteria for Ex-Servicemen
Only Ex-Service Officer can apply who are in the age group of 18 to 42 years can apply. Candidates must be a graduate and physically and mentally fit.
Serving member of the Regular Army/ Navy/ Air Force/ Police/ GREF/ Para Military and other forces are not eligible.
Territorial Army Selection Process for Ex-Servicemen
The Ex-Service Officers will be screened by the Army Headquarters Selection Board (ASB) at Additional Directorate General Territorial Army.
The Ex-Service Officers will undergo a medical examination at Armed Forces Clinic followed by their Police Verification for final selection.
Territorial Army Eligibility Criteria for Civilians
Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
Age Limits: The age of candidates should be between 18 and 42 years on the date of application.
Educational Qualifications: Must have completed graduation from a recognized university
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically and medically fit in all respects.
Employment status: Gainfully employed
Territorial Army Selection Process for Officers Civilians
Screening: Candidates applying successfully for the exam will be called for screening. The screening comprises a written exam followed by Interview, conducted by a Preliminary Interview Board by the respective Territorial Army Group Headquarters.
Successful candidates will have to further undergo tests at a Service Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board for final selection.
The vacancies for male and female candidates will be determined as per organizational requirements.
Territorial Army Salary & Career Growth
The Commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant. Pay, allowances and privileges will be same as regular army officers. Candidates can be promoted upto Lt Col subjected to fulfilling the criteria. Officers commissioned in Infantry TA may be called for military for longer duration depending on the requirement. Candidates are not entitled to pension.
